The hip hinge and the kettlebell swing


The hip hinge is a movement pattern which is necessary for the kettlebell swing.

The hip hinge does have the explosive potential you need to swing properly.

During a hip hinge you have to push your butt back. Your lower back (your spine) is and stay extended.

You can train it near to a wall if you want. 

You can also use a stick to get familiar to the hip hinge: 

One end of the stick should be on your head and the other should be on your butt. And then do the hip hinge movement while the stick stays connected to the head and the butt.
